The Best Gifts for Toddlers in 2025
Babies are fairly easy to shop for, really a lot of the gifts you’re getting for the baby are for the parent- things that will be useful to them, i.e. diapers, bottles, blankets, and clothing items. But quicker than the Flash you’ll find that they are no longer a baby and instead are now entering their toddler years. Typically people will classify ages one to three as the “toddler” years and that can be when gift giving gets tricky. At that age their brains are starting to develop further and their personalities are coming out more and more which means shopping for them requires a little more thinking.
Obviously with a market so saturated, you can look for hours and hours and still find new toys or “toddler dedicated” products. All of that can get overwhelming for the person shopping, and whether you’re a first-time parent, a sibling of the new parent with said toddler, or a friend of someone who has a kid, you’ve probably been on the lookout for the best gifts for toddlers ever since their first birthday has passed. Luckily you’ve come to the right place to find gifts as we’re going to go over toddler gifts that are perfect for the little tyke.
Can’t Go Wrong With Classics 🖍️
As we mentioned at the top, there are now so many children’s toys out there from hundreds of companies. If you type “toddler gifts” into your preferred search engine, you’ll be stuck with listings on your algorithm for the next few months at least. But there are some toys, some gifts, that have stood the test of time and we thought we should talk about those because really, they have always been the best.
Just like the tagline says: “easy to hold, hard to break!” Image courtesy of: Crayola.
When we think creativity we think famous artists, directors, writers- but really the most creative people in the world are kids! Kids have no bias, no limits to the scope of their imagination so when it comes time to color or draw they tend to create things that we as adults would never dream of. That’s why we think getting them tools to help further their fine motor skills and creativity makes for a great gift.
Crayons, a timeless classic that needs no introduction because you yourself have more than likely drawn with them as a kid. Full of fun colors and endless creative potential- crayons can be used to make their first drawings that you hang up on the fridge for years to come. And these Jumbo Crayons for $3.59 from Target are a great pick for a gift as they are big so their little hands can hold them easier. Plus they are harder to break which parents know is an even better gift than the actual crayons themselves. This pack comes with Red, Blue, Yellow, Black, Brown, Orange, Purple and Green colors.

Now we’re going to talk about a gift that is totally 100% free and it’s thanks to Crayola. We obviously can’t get enough of Crayola and that’s because of resources like their Free Coloring Pages on their website you can print out. Look through over 1000 different coloring pages and print out some you think they would like- (there’s also coloring pages for adults too). Then you can present them with their crayons and coloring pages so they can scribble all outside the lines in their own style 😉

It’s never too early to start introducing learning into your child’s life and My First Toddler Coloring Book: Fun with Numbers, Letters, Shapes, Colors, and Animals! (Kids Coloring Activity Books) by Tanya Emelyanova on sale on Paperback for $3.51 (normally priced at $5.99) at Amazon is the perfect first book to get. Obviously you know from the title it has numbers, letters, shapes, colors, and animals which covers a whole lot of bases of what your kid will start to learn when they go to Pre-K and beyond. This book is recommended for kids ages 1-3 so that’s perfectly in-line with a toddler’s age.
A classic for over thirty years. Image courtesy of: Barnes & Noble.
For over thirty years Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin Jr, John Archambault, Lois Ehlert (Illustrator) has been a beloved children’s book and since we’re talking timeless it’s only fair we add it to this gift guide. Learn the alphabet as you and your child watch the letters climb up the coconut tree. This Board Book can be found on Barnes & Noble for $7.99.
Everyone wanted one, now you can give one! Image courtesy of: Little Tikes.
Just from the picture alone adults now will immediately get their credit card out because this is a staple amongst our youth. You’ll remember seeing these in the bike and trike sections at your local retailers and always wanting one- well now you can gift one to your toddler. Little Tikes has been making products for, well, little tikes for decades now and this Cozy Coupe with Working Door, Horn & Removable Floorboard for $64.99 is probably their most recognizable toy. There’s a handle on the back so adults can push their kids along for a walk or when they get old enough you can remove the floor of the car and they can use their feet to “drive” around the driveway.

And of course we couldn’t only recommend one rockin’ ride, we had to include another Little Tikes classic with the Push & Ride Racer – 2-in-1 Toddler Ride-On & Walker for $29.99 that can be used in and outside the house. There’s a little slot at the back they can put their favorite stuffed animal in to take them along for the ride. This ride leads to hours of entertainment, perfect for a toddler who wants to do something fun and fast that’s also age appropriate.

If you didn’t have a picture of you as a little kid in a cardboard box, then we'd be surprised because kids and cardboard boxes go together like peanut butter and jelly. They are the ultimate fun-machine and all it is a cardboard box! You can get those easily for way-too cheap online or at a local vendor. Then they can color the inside and outside to their heart’s content for hours of fun.
It’s a toy that leads to their own version of “cleaning up.” Image courtesy of: Amazon.
Just like Little Tikes is known for their variety of children’s toys, VTech is also another famous company that specializes in all things toys including well-loved gifts like this VTech Pop-a-Balls Push and Pop Bulldozer which is on sale on Amazon for $14.99 (normally priced at $29.99). The toddler will put the colored balls into the bucket and as they push it down the hallways the balls will pop out, then they can repeat the process as much as they want for endless fun. On the sides of the bulldozer are interactive buttons where they can learn about colors, numbers, different phrases, and music.
Honestly we’d love to play with these as adults! Image courtesy of: Constructive Playthings.
Magnetic wooden train sets have been around for a minute now and they are a landscape for plenty of hours of playtime. You can mix and match the wooden rails in different ways then set up your town exactly the way you want it. This 55-Piece Magnetic Wooden Train Set with Tracks, Bridges & Accessories from Constructive Playthings is $129.99 and will be a hit in your house for many years to come.
Their farm is ready for them to take care of! Image courtesy of: Target.
Fisher-Price’s Little People Playsets have also been a hit for many years now and there are so many to choose from, but we’ve found that the Caring For Animals Farm for $39.99 when purchased online at Target is a hit that can’t be beat. This set was actually playtested by kids so you know that you won’t be able to find a better setup than this one. They can feed their animals, make up scenarios in their head, and learn a little how farms work. A simple toy that will definitely become a toddler’s favorite.
Keep them busy with a busy board! Image courtesy of: Montessori Generation.
A relatively newer classic is Busy Boards. Busy Boards are boards that keep a child busy (the name really nailed it on the head didn’t it?). They promote fine motor skills at a young age all while keeping them engaged. Montessori is a name many parents will know because they have a ton of toys built to keep kids entertained and learning. Their Busy Board on sale for $43.97 (normally priced at $65.97) is super soft, not too overwhelming, and colorful. On the board itself your kid will find belt buckles to undo, shoelaces to untie for when they get a little older, snap pockets, and zippers. It’s a simple concept that really works.
